Most of us think of spring and fall as home cleaning and maintenance season. However,
there are several up-keeping jobs that can fall under summer home maintenance must
dos. Many of these items just can't be addressed until the warm weather is here.
PATIOS, PORCHES, DECKS & DRIVEWAYS
Clean your grill- since most people do the majority of their grilling in the summer, this is a great time. Don't overlook the pull out tray. It should be emptied at least once a year..
Check & repair cracks in your driveway.
Power wash your driveway and sidewalks. Make sure you do this after you have laid your mulch for the season.
Check your deck for loose nails.
Pressure wash the deck or patio.
EXTERIOR PERIMETER
Treat for wasps. This is probably something you may need to keep up with all summer.
Treating at night may be far more productive than when they are out during the day.
Check & repair caulk- this is the caulk around windows and soffits. Use exterior silcone caulk. Once you repair it should last 3-5 years.
Lubricate garage doors-Believe it or not thos little rollers on your garage door need lubricated once a year. Make sure to use WD-40.
Check for loose brick, pavers, or stepping stones.
Inspect the roof shingles and flashing.
Inspect gutters for leaks, nests, or debris.
LAWN & GARDEN
Inspect fencing for loose or damaged boards.
Inspect exterior for signs of insect infestation.
Inspect sprinkler system for leaks.
Check water hoses to see if worn, cracker, or leaking.
